For the purposes of its work Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau uses modern systems of computer-assisted design.

The software applied includes:

• AutoCAD;
• Nupas-Cadmatic;
• Ship Model (for ship surface);
• Poseidon (strength calculations);
• Project 1.

 In 2006 the Bureau started using the 3D engineering and design system Nupas Cadmatic, which is a type of software widely acknowledged in the world shipbuilding industry. A set of licenses possessed by the Design Bureau makes it possible to work at hull design and ship systems, as well as to produce nesting programmes and other designer documentation. In the future the Design Bureau is planning to widen the set of Nupas Cadmatic licenses for all the qualifications, as well as to purchase a set of licenses for the Napa computer-assisted design system that will enable 3D modelling in general ship design.
